It’s common for people to have certain expectations about what hypnosis “should” feel like, and that can sometimes interfere with the session. Hypnosis is not sleep—you’ll be fully aware and conscious of everything happening around you.
If you felt you weren’t hypnotized in a previous experience, it might be due to expecting a sleep-like state or not fully understanding what hypnosis actually feels like. Trust and rapport with your hypnotherapist are essential to feeling safe and letting go. Most people stay aware throughout the session and recall what they experienced, sometimes thinking they “made it up.” Others may feel as though they were asleep and miss parts of the session, though their subconscious still engages in the process.
You’ll receive a video recording of the session to review later, which often reveals deeper insights and reinforces the wisdom gained from the experience.
